How (and why) to “add landlord”
Optional but highly suggested
With SoftScreen®, offers to rent can be automatically shared between agents and landlords.
As the listing agent, you "Add Landlord" to your listing. This invites your listing client to join distribution. It does NOT make it mandatory or force them to join. The landlord can always opt in, and you'll both receive offers to rent automatically, simultaneously. This is a secure and private distribution to you and your listing client.
Why add the landlord?
It's safer!
Using less secure methods to send an applicant’s sensitive information is not considered best practice. If mistakes are made, once an email is sent, it's impossible to unsend it! Recently enacted laws regarding Personal Identifying Information may also make things challenging when files are sent via email servers or document upload platforms.
Adding Landlord is faster and easier than compiling multiple reports, applications, documents like proof of income, and other financials. Doing this for one or more offers is time-consuming, tedious, and subject to information protection laws. Who needs the hassle? Not you! SoftScreen® can do it all, saving time and effort and preventing accidental mishaps.
How to “Add Landlord”
Sign in to your SoftScreen account.
CLICK "Add Landlord" found in the shortcut bar at the top of your dashboard.
On the following screen, you will see the address of your listing.
CLICK the "Add Property Owner" button located next to the address.
(If the button is not visible, the landlord has already been added. Click "Edit" to view the current landlord info. You are able to edit this information by using the cancel button if desired.)
On the next and final screen, enter your listing client’s email in the designated field and click to save. They’ll receive a friendly email inviting them to opt into distribution. The email will name you as the sender and identify the property’s address. If your client opts in, they’ll also receive all offers to rent!
Once done, you will see a red "cancel" button.
This appears in case you need to remove the landlord's email address at a future time and replace it with a different email address.
FYI: If the landlord states they cannot view tenant submissions:
Make sure you do not have more than one entry for any one rental. To do this, click "My Addresses" in the shortcut bar at the top of your dashboard. Scroll through your list of addresses. If there is more than one entry for the same property, please "De-List" any duplicate entries, then make sure the landlord is added to the one remaining entry.
For agents whose broker participates in MLS automation:
Your MLS will have entered your listing for you automatically. If you manually entered the address of your listing OR had accepted a listing invitation for this address from another agent, you accidentally created a duplicate. De-List any duplicates, keeping ONLY the entry with the MLS number. This entry will automatically De-list once the property is marked closed in your MLS.
